Fanboy 1.0 for Feb. 27

By now you have been bombarded with talk about Heath Ledger's Oscar. Let me be the last to tell you how excited I was to have his performance in "The Dark Knight" honored in a way it truly deserved to be and what an emotional moment on stage when his family accepted the trophy on his behalf.

Imaginarium1.jpgMoving on from Oscar night, questions still remain about Ledger's final on screen performance in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." But for this writer, only one of those questions need answering and that is "When will we see it?"

"Parnassus," directed by Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam, is about a traveling magician who gives customers a bit more than they asked for. Production was halted early last year due to Ledger's passing until a solution involving actors Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp was found. All three will play different parts of Ledger's character as he travels through different worlds.

And while the film is finished, a distributor still needs to be lined up and according to various sources in the industry, a U.S. deal is expected shortly especially after the film's late star recently took home an Oscar.

So no, I don't have a date to give you Ledger fans. But be assured, the day is coming.

Can't wait? The film is scheduled for release in England this summer.
Tyler Perry is a machine.

6a00c2251e13128e1d00fad6915c700005-500pi.pngAfter dominating the box-office with a $41.1 million opening this past weekend with "Madea Goes To Jail," Perry is racing to don the old lady garb again in "I can Do Bad All By Myself."

The film is based on Perry's 1999 play of the same name that introduced the character of the 68-year-grandmother to the world. Filming is scheduled to begin this month but no word on a release date.

Perry is also set to star in "Madea's Class Reunion" in 2010. With a movie coming out seemingly every other month and two TV shows on TBS, Tyler, seriously man, take a breath.

Alright "Arrested Development" fans, the final word is in and yes, you will be getting a movie.

"I had a great meeting with Mitch," Howard said, speaking of Mitch Hurwitz, the series creator. "Things are going really well. He's writing."

So you want a little insight into the film's story? Tough.

"We've been asked to no longer divulge anything or get into the game of who's in, who's out," Howard told MTV. "People are going to have to see."

Here's what else is happening this week in the world of pop culture:

Was anyone else wondering what was up with Philip Seymour Hoffman's skull cap on Oscar night? According to his publicist, he's currently filming a movie adaptation of "Jack Goes Boating" in which he has "crazy hair." Hoffman says he would "rather deal with hat jokes" than hair jokes.

diablo_cody_stays_busy_postjuno_289x370.jpgI admit that right now me and the rest of the entertainment world is obsessed with zombies. And now Diablo Cody is joining in the fun. The Academy Award-winning writer of "Juno" will produce the zombie romantic comedy "Breathers."

In a online question and answer session with the Boston Globe, Dan Aykroyd was asked about progress of "Ghostbusters 3." His response? "Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009." We've got our fingers crossed.

Lastly, congratulations to Paris Hilton for winning not one but three Razzie awards this year for Worst Actress, Worst Supporting Actress and Worst Screen Couple with Christine Lakin. Keep up the great work.
