Things are tough all over.
These days, that's more than just the title to a Cheech and Chong movie, it's a daily slogan. But when things get tough and life hands you lemons, there's only one thing to do: Grab some liquor to go with those lemons, pick up your bailout bucket and head to the beach.
This week starts the annual flocking of college kids and the not-so-young kids trying to relive their college years to the World's Most Famous Beach.
Since the '60s, Daytona Beach has been a key Spring Break destination. And while the party has died down over the past several years, the area is expected to kick things up a notch this year.

We know these days you've got less coin in your pocket, so we're here
to key you in on what you can do for next to nothing. And never fear,
there is plenty.
First off, Spring Breakers, there is enough free swag around to make you think you're a celebrity at a pre-Oscar party. Beer? Check. T-shirts? You bet. And don't forget about all those souvenirs you can get by signing up for that credit card that you know you don't have the credit to get anyway.
The only issue with the free junk is that there is no rhyme or reason to where you might find some, but be assured, it will be everywhere. Just keep that one bloodshot eye open and you're bound to score free merchandise.
Nothing goes with Spring Break quite like music and there will be tons to choose from.
SATURDAY: If you're the type who loves rock and frickin' laser beams, then the Museum of Arts and Sciences has you covered. On Saturday, the museum will offer up laser Pink Floyd with "Dark Side of the Moon" at 8:15 p.m. and "The Wall" at 9:15 p.m. Held at 352 S. Nova Road in Daytona Beach, the shows are $5 a piece or $7 for both. Call 386-255-0285 for info.
SATURDAY: For breakers and locals alike, Destination Daytona in Ormond Beach will be your home-away-from-beach this weekend. Saturday, the motorcycle mecca will host Extreme Spring Break 2009. The event is scheduled to include stunt shows, live music with the deejays of Hoobastank and more. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. and will run you $25.
WEDNESDAY: For a taste of something different, check out the Supervillains on Wednesday at the Ocean Deck. Admission is free to the club at 127 Ocean Ave. and the show begins at 3 p.m. You can get more info at 386-253-5224.
SUNDAY: Then on Sunday, get your fix of Sublime with tribute band Badfish at 7 p.m. It's $20 for this show. Destination Daytona is at 1637 N. U.S. 1. For questions or tickets, call 386-671-7103.
And now for something completely different.
ALL WEEKEND: This year, Daytona's annual car stereo show, Spring Break Nationals, will join forces with Funkmaster Flex's Custom Car and Bike Show Tour at the new and improved Ocean Center on Saturday and Sunday.
"We're absolutely thrilled on many levels" said SBN Founder Paul Papadeas in a released statement. "We've waited years for the Ocean Center expansion and now, it's a reality."
The event costs $10 per day and will feature a slew of events from car shows and a performance with Flex to eating contests and a model search. The Ocean Center is located at 101 N. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach. Call 386-254-4500 for details.
ALSO: Oh, and for you those of you who may imbibe a beverage or two, there's one more free perk coming your way. The Big Red Party Bus will provide free rides up and down Atlantic Ave during Spring Break. And the best part? No need to toss the drink. You can bring it on board. (As long as you're not the bus driver.)
The bus will stop at all major hotels and party destinations along the beach.
