Reviewing Raw

And looking ahead to the finale for Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling.
RAW FOR 12/1/2008

John Cena is running the show as World Heavyweight Champion, but the foursome of Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes and Manu may be too much for him to overcome. I didn't like how no one came to Cena's aid when he was suffering the beatdown from that foursome. It looks like WWE is pushing Rey Mysterio in the Intercontinental Title Tournament. I expect Mysterio to defeat Kofi Kingston and then beat the winner of the CM Punk-John Morrison match (which will likely be Punk). WWE could have Mike Knox cost Mysterio a title opportunity, but I'm leaning more toward Knox being the first contender for Mysterio after he disposes of William Regal. I'm glad WWE didn't waste the Raw debut of Dolph Ziggler. I thought Ziggler might actually beat Batista. Melina is definitely getting the push in the women's division. Expect her to beat Beth Phoenix for the title to give that division another fresh start. I have no idea where WWE is going with Shawn Michaels and JBL.

Next week are the 2008 Slammy Awards. Later this week, I will have my predictions for the category winners.
Since WWE has announced the nominees for Superstar of the Year (Edge, Batista, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Triple H and John Cena), I will say Batista should win. He should beat out the other nominees because he's stayed healthy and out of trouble. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Cena or Hardy won.

As for next week's Raw matches (Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho, Triple H vs. Batista, John Cena vs. Edge), expect a few no-decisions or disqualifications. If I had to pick, I think Jericho, Cena and Triple H would have the advantage.

WEEKLY HEADLINES AND MY REACTS

Randy Orton's smoking habit and him reportedly being offered a 10-year deal by WWE. REACT:
Orton's cardio would be way up if he dropped the cigarettes. I find the 10-year deal hard to believe, seeing how injury-prone Orton is. He also doesn't have the best track record outside of the ring either.

Charlie Haas interview about his character and his past steroid use. REACT: It's good to see Haas come clean and admit his mistakes. He has a strong and respectable grasp on the sports entertainment side of the business.

Rey Mysterio wants a three-year deal with WWE, which wants a five-year deal with him. REACT: Wouldn't a three-year deal be better for WWE as it relates to the injury-prone Mysterio?

Mr. Kennedy says he would love to go back to being a heel. REACT: Especially since he's been out for so long, that would be a smart thing.

Bruce Prichard (Brother Love) gone from WWE. REACT: A true legend who has been a great mind for the business behind the scenes. We'll see if he catches on with TNA Wrestling.

Batista tells WJFK.com he dated Kelly Kelly. REACT: Batista is racking up quite an impressive out-of-ring resume. Who says it's all about world titles?

Mickie James wants to star in at least one movie. REACT: There's a joke here somewhere, but I'll take a pass. Maybe James will star in a WWE production.

WWE off Germany TV. REACT: That's a big loss, but I expect it back on Germany TV very soon.

Shawn Michaels wants to wrestle the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV. REACT: Michaels usually gets what he wants, so count on this match happening.

LATEST ON THE HOGANS

Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling: Episode 7: With the elimination of Danny Bonaduce (he never should have been allowed back on the show), we're down to the final four (Dennis Rodman, Todd Bridges, Butterbean, Dustin Diamond) for the season finale Saturday. Rodman, Butterbean and Bridges -- in that order -- seem to have the edge. It seems like Rodman -- he shows up late and he hits hard -- doesn't get the full respect from the others. But Hogan's pep talk rejuvenates Rodman. I'm surprised Hogan actually said Andre the Giant weighed almost 700 pounds for the WrestleMania III slam. It was funny how no one could slam Butterbean. I was hoping Hogan would try.
