The matches:
1. Tommy Dreamer wins ECW Championship Scramble Match. REACT: So much for Mark Henry getting a run as champion. Pins went to Jack Swagger (2), Finlay (1), Henry (1) and Dreamer (1) -- getting pinned were Finlay (1), Swagger (1), Dreamer (1), Henry (1) and Christian (1). I guess Swagger's two pins show he is the strongest out of this bunch in WWE's eyes, although Dreamer retained. PICK: I picked Henry, so I'm 0-
2. Rey Mysterio beats Chris Jericho to become Intercontinental Champion. REACT: I guess for Rey to keep his mask he had to actually win. This match got great reviews as the best match on the show, and Mysterio wearing a second mask underneath was brilliant booking. PICK: I picked Jericho, so I'm 0-2.
3. Dolph Ziggler beats The Great Khali in a No Countout, No DQ Match. REACT: In case anyone was wondering when Kane would return, wonder no more. That was the only reason this match was on the card, although Ziggler gets a nice boost with his win. PICK: With my Ziggler pick, I'm 1-2.
4. Edge and Chris Jericho become Unified Tag Team Champions, beating Carlito and Primo, and Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. REACT: I guess WWE was ready for the faces to drop the belts, and WWE is obviously also ready to finally go ahead with DiBiase's face turn. Enter Edge and Jericho, who with their win should make the tag-team titles important again. That also means we'll see both Edge and Jericho on all three shows, which is not a bad thing. PICK: No one could have gotten this one. I'm 1-3.
5. Michelle McCool beats Melina to become Women's Champion. REACT: McCool is a good pick as the first woman to win both the Divas title and the Women's Championship. She should do the women's division well. PICK: Way to go, McCool. I'm 2-3.
6. Jeff Hardy beats World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk by disqualification. REACT: So much for this match stealing the show. But it's telling a story for a feud that should stretch out over several months. Punk still hasn't completely turned yet, but he's as close as he can get. The payoff should be huge, although I still prefer Punk as a face. Since Punk retains, I'm giving myself this pick. PICK: I'm 3-3.
7. John Cena beats The Miz. REACT: The Miz had one heck of a run. Too bad it ended here in about five minutes. PICK: I'm above .500. Make me 4-3.
8. WWE Champion Randy Orton beats Triple H. REACT: I went 0-for-3 with the three matches within this one match. Ouch! WWE had DiBiase lean back toward his heel status by helping Orton. HHH is now 2-for-1 in Three Stages of Hell Matches, having beaten Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. He is now still a 13-time world champion and three behind Ric Flair if you are counting. This is a huge win for Orton. PICK: I finish 4-4.
The lone angle:
1. WWE continues to tease Teddy Long leaving Smackdown as its general manager. Edge, Chris Jericho, Carlito and Primo, and even Vince McMahon implied that in various segments.
LATEST HEADLINES AND MY REACTS
Cryme Tyme's "Word Up" segment on Smackdown. REACT: I meant to mention that I thought WWE overstepped its PG rating with Cryme Tyme demonstrating what "jackin" meant. Does WWE really want to promote robbing/stealing from someone?
Superstar Billy Graham hospitalized. REACT: Graham is a legend in this business. Best of luck in his recovery.
WWE changes pay-per-view names of "No Mercy" to "Hell in a Cell" and "Cyber Sunday" to "WWE Annihilation.'' REACT: I hope the "Cyber Sunday" fans vote format isn't a thing of the past.
Lilian Garcia to quit WWE when her contract expires later this year. REACT: She's no Howard Finkel, but she has had one heck of a run.
MVP is Sherri Shepherd's date to Sunday's BET Awards. REACT: Is it just me, or does MVP need to realize his full-time job is WWE and not tagging behind Sherri?
Bobby Lashley beats Bob Sapp. REACT: Four minutes of my life I can't get back. That's not a knock on Lashley -- it was just a boring fight. But a ground game was Lashley's best chance for a win, and when it comes down to it, a win is a win. It'll be interesting to see Lashley's progression in his next two fights in 2009.
