Wrestling Diva part of worthy cause.
According to information from Shannon Rose and thepatriotgirls.com, wrestling diva/manager/valet Vitale is a Patriot Girl for the U.S. troops.
The national organization, created in May 2007, supports and helps boost troop morale.
The voluntary Patriot Girls create patriotic- and military-themed images and products, and some of the profits go to charities to help soldiers and their families.
Examples include photo shoots, calendars, fundraisers and care packages.
Amy got involved with the Patriot Girls through Mike Suska.
On with the Q&A:
Q: How long have you been a Patriot Girl? And talk a little about being a Patriot Girl.
A: "I've been a Patriot Girl since the beginning of this year. I've been the spokesmodel -- to make people be aware of us and what we do. It's a very good thing. I've been doing stuff for the troops for awhile -- collages and such. I have a little bit of a fan following and can get people aware of what we're doing. I'm just trying to get the word out about the Patriot Girls. They all do voluntary work on their own time -- car washes, golf events, Operation Shield. We try to raise money and materials."
Q: What's the most interesting thing that's happened to you as a Patriot Girl? I'm sure the troops enjoy seeing you (a 5-foot-6/118-pound blonde beauty).A: "I haven't had a chance to visit the troops yet -- I'm the new kid on the block. I've had troops come up to me at wrestling shows. They say it's a wonderful thing that we're doing. What's important about us is that we're not affiliated with any party. We're there to show support. I've done shows before the Patriot Girls, in Ft. Lauderdale. We have troops that come to the show. I had a few come up to me at the Coliseum show (here in Daytona Beach). I haven't done any events yet, but there are planned events for me coming up.
"They probably have a good 75 percent of the U.S. involved. There are three teams here in Florida, of models. I'm with the Fort Lauderdale group, and there's one in Sarasota and Jacksonville. Every state has an event going on. There's an event in South Carolina next month.''
Q: How much time do you devote to this?
A: "Quite a bit. I've been speaking with many newspapers, talk shows, about it. I talk about events going on. AT&T has a program with used phones and calling cards, so we let the troops know about that. I know there's a walkathon in the first week of October in Parkland, near western Ft. Lauderdale.''
Q: Anything else to add about the Patriot Girls?
A "I just want to say to have everybody support the troops. Don't be negative. They want to hear positive support and your love for them. We have calendars out, and print and posters out, proceeds to various things."
Q: You've been wrestling 14 years, right? Do you see yourself staying in wrestling for awhile? And what do you have coming up?
A: "I'm basically a diva and I play a spoiled Italian princess. Sometimes her mischief gets her into her own trouble. I love to make people laugh and entertain. I started when I was 16 years old -- I'm now 30. I've been keeping very busy. I'm probably leaning more to modeling and working with Black Art Beer -- It's really taken off. Wrestling has a shelf life.''
Q: And Pro Wrestling Fusion?
A: "We're doing a good job. A lot of people are talking about Pro Wrestling Fusion. You never know (about a TV contract). I've heard some people say we are just as good as FCW. That's heartwarming and exhilarating to hear. I think we're doing pretty good for a smaller promotion."
Thanks for your time, Amy.
For the record, JAWBreaker went to the PWF show at the Coliseum. From what I've seen of FCW on TV (I have not been to an FCW event), PWF is very comparable. I would not argue with those who say PWF is better than FCW. Of course, FCW has WWE-financial backing, which is a huge plus, but I'm speaking purely on the wrestling and entertainment value of both brands.
