Lecture circuit recap

I thought this episode was OK. Not great, not terrible. Was anyone else really surprised it was a two-parter? I hadn't looked ahead at the episode list to realize that, and that caught me off guard. So is Holly coming back? Remember, I had posted something about that not long ago. Anyway, here's the recap...

(Actually, a quick aside: my wife and I are headed to "Casino Night," the big annual fund-raiser for my son's school. It's the first year we're going, and I'm really excited -- and keep replaying the Casino Night episode in my head. So I'm either gonna bust out on the first hand, or I'm gonna end up stealing some chips! I'll try and post and let you know how it went, and how it compared to the show. OK, back to the recap...)

There's three different story lines working in this one. I thought two worked pretty well, but one was just kinda average:

1. Michael and Pam hit the road for Michael to talk to the other branches since the Scranton branch has been so successful. There were some good laughs and cringe-worthy moments mixed in one. Like Michael asking Karen if Jim is the father when he sees that she's pregnant. Or how Michael tries to remember the employees' names.

2. Andy tries to pick up one of Stanley's clients. You can't go wrong with the 'Nard dog. I thought it was pretty funny when he tried to kiss her in the parking lot. Or when he was singing in the office. Or when he tried to apologize for the attempted kiss as she was pulling out of the parking lot. Good stuff.

3. Jim and Dwight forget Kelly's birthday. This seems like it could have been funnier than it was to me. It was just kinda ... I dunno. It seems like it was the whole thing with Jim and Dwight not going to Kelly's party all over again. Remember, when she made the mugs for everyone but them, then tried to get them in trouble at work? Just kinda been there, done that. Although it did leave me craving an ice cream cake. Mmmmmm. And Creed's $3 bill was a plus.

It is your birthday.

Ha! Ya know what, that line in itself was so good that it might have made that whole segment decent.
