The latest Office news

It's been a long summer without a whole lot of news on The Office.

That's about to change, with Season 6 starting up next Thursday. It's about time!

Anyway, here's the latest on The Office, including some stuff you may have missed.

*The Office has received the follwing Emmy nominations (the Emmys will be held Sept. 20): Steve Carell, Comedy Series Lead Actor; Rainn Wilson, Comedy Series Supporting Actor; Comedy Series Directing; Comedy Series Editing; Comedy Series Sound Mixing; Comedy Series Casting; and Interactive Media -- Fiction. Carell is up for his work in the episode "Broke," the last of the Michael Scott Paper Company. That episode was fantastic, and Carell really did an awesome job with it.

*I'm still waiting for the Andy bobblehead to be released.

*The Season 5 DVD just hit the stores today. Wonder if it's packaged with any cool stuff like my keychain of the stapler in Jell-O.

*Finally, here's a behind-the-scenes clip of Season 6.

Cafe Disco review

Sorry about the delay in getting this review posted -- I've been absolutely slammed. On Saturday, I was race director for a charity 5K, and I've had nonstop stuff going on for what seems like months. And you have no idea how badly I wanted to have one of my friends scarf down some fettucini right before the race. I swear, some of the people who were in the 5K also stopped off at a garage sale to buy a lamp, too.

Anyway, I was kinda mixed about the last episode. Maybe it just seemed so off the wall to me. The whole concept of a cafe disco was just so bizarre. And I don't know about the whole angle with Bob Vance possibly cheating on Phyllis. Having said all of that, I did think the Andy-Kelly dance-off was pretty funny. Andy is just hilarious in any scene he's in.

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at the season finale, which is also the 100th episode of the series. All of the finales have been so strong -- I'm really excited to see what they come up with Thursday.

Rainn Wilson and Star Trek

I keep seeing coming attractions for the new "Star Trek" movie, which hits theaters on May 8, and it looks pretty good. I'm not a Trekkie by any means, but it looks like they've really tried to modernize the series.

Anyway, since I always try to find a tie to "The Office" with everything, it reminded me of a couple of funny videos Rainn Wilson did during a photo shoot with Entertainment Weekly about a year or so ago. In this one, the actor who portrays Dwight Schrute plays Capt. Jean-Luc Picard. There's also another in which he plays MacGyver.

I'm going to get straight to "the rundown" of Thursday's shows -- TWO new episodes of "The Office" and the premier of "Parks and Recreation".

Hilarious deleted scene

There have been a few times this season when the episode hasn't been just kinda average. Then, the next day or so later, I'll hit the official site and they'll have a deleted scene that's funnier than a lot of the stuff they left in the show. This is one of those instances.

If you thought "The Duel" was somewhat average, then you have gotta check out this scene. And if you really liked the episode, then this scene would've made it that much more funnier.

Office preview clip

There's finally a new episode this week. Is it me or does it seem like it's been months since we've seen gotten a fresh episode?

Hopefully the wait will be worth it. Andy finds out about Angela and Dwight, so there's some potential there -- because Andy is so hilarious. The best episodes usually seem to be the ones when there's just something random going on, and it involves all of the characters. But Andy vs. Dwight could be good.

Here's the preview clip for this week.

Oscar webisode

I love when this show does stuff like webisodes. Or the behind-the-scenes stuff with Angela. It just gives you insight into the cast that few shows offer. So even though the "key players" aren't always involved in the webisodes, the writing is always so good that you don't even really notice. And since Oscar was the first cast member I interviewed, I was psyched to see the webisode was about him.

Here are the first two installments of the new webisode.

Is Dwight paranoid? You bet

This is a great deleted scene from last week's episode. It's all about Dwight, and a good chunk is about what he would've done if he were in JFK's shoes. "Fake Jackie" ... hysterical.

Michael and Darryl

Here's one of the deleted scenes from last week's episode. So far, all of the deleted scenes have been clips from the trip to Holly's new place with Michael and Darryl. While I'm still disappointed there hasn't been anything more from Halloween, you have to love the dynamics of the relationship between Michael and Darryl.

Here's another deleted scene from last week's episode. I'm not sure it's as good as the last one I posted, but still not bad. It's got some Andy and some Stanley -- never a bad thing.
