Daytona Flea Market Freedom Field

(Provided by Becky Steinke)

Daytona Flea & Farmers Market To Sponsor Freedom Field Event - a red, white and blue public art event.

Express your Freedom, Express Yourself.

Calling all creative souls! Join us and Event Coordinator artist Margaret Schnebly Hodge and artists Kathy O'Meara and Jean Banas in creating Daytona's first Freedom Field at the Daytona Flea Market, corner (US 92) International Speedway and (SR 415) Tomoka Farms Road Daytona Beach.

THE MISSION: Install over 800 linear feet of flags (or flag like) creations! Donate a flag of your own design to express your thoughts on freedom. Your creation will be seen by countless visitors through July 4 weekend before being donated to local veteran causes for fund raising.

Everyone, children to adult, is encouraged to participate - bring your homemade creations, from simple to extraordinary - all media is welcome, but it must be something that will hang on rope - use your imagination - old towels, pillow cases, fabrics of all shapes work! Red, white and blue or any color will do. Decorate one side or both. Submissions may be any size up to 4 foot wide by 4 foot tall.

All local organizations, schools and citizens are encouraged to participate!  The Market will be awarding Flea Bucks (good as cash anywhere at the market) for three top creations! Enlist today at www.daytonafleamarket.com so we know who will be in the field beside us..or just come on by and join in. Those who want to create on site should bring their own materials as on site materials will be just the basics (cloth & paint, water to clean up and tables).

Join us Saturday and Sunday, June 27 from 28, 10 AM to 3 PM at the Daytona Flea & Farmer's Market to submit your pre made creations or create one on site. Become part of Volusia County's first "Freedom Field", south entrance of the market off Tomoka Farms Road.

"Savory Beet Recipes Could Give Obama a Change of Heart," Expert Says

Leading Food Portal Offers One-Stop Access to More Than 20,000 Recipes for the Mistakenly Maligned Beet

Pity the lowly beet. Just when this rather homey tuber thought it was finally getting the recognition it deserved in home kitchens, trend-setting restaurants and the press alike, along comes President Barack Obama to give it a bad rap.  "I always avoid eating them," says Obama in one report, relegating beets to the joke mill occupied until now by George H.W. Bush's uneaten broccoli crowns.

"I believe The White House chef, Cristeta Comerford, can easily rectify this situation with tasty recipes that give beets of all colors the credit they deserve," notes Howie Wang, founder of FoodieView - a leading food portal with recipe search engine providing one-stop access to the Internet's largest and highest quality collection of beet recipes - 20,250 to be exact.

Here's a preview of just some the wonderful beet recipes that may be found through FoodieView, which may just change Obama's mind about this versatile veggie - or create a slew of new fans otherwise:

Beet and Goat Cheese Salad with  Pistachios
Beet Ravioli with Poppy Seed  Butter
Beet Carpaccio with Goat Cheese  and Mint Vinaigrette
Romaine and Roasted-Beet Salad  with Creamy Roquefort Dressing
Roasted Beets with Horseradish  Cream
Beet and Goat Cheese  Crostini
Beet Bundt Cake
Roasted Beet, Pistachio, and Pear  Salad
Balsamic Baked Beets with Red  Onions and Hazelnuts
Moroccan Beet Salad
Beets in Orange/Apricot Sauce
Roasted Beet Salad With  Horseradish Cream Dressing
Swedish Pickled Beet and Apple  Salad
Frisee, Baby Spinach, and Golden  Beet Salad

Since 2005 FoodieView has made it easy to find good food fast online. Instead of visiting individual Web sites to search for recipes one by one, through FoodieView's unique and convenient recipe search engine you can quickly search ALL of the Internet's best recipe sites simultaneously from one single search tool. You can search by ingredient, keyword, dish name, cuisine, chef, dietary restrictions and more. The recipe search results are then sorted both by relevance and user rating, making it effortless to find the most popular, promising recipes. You can also keep track of your favorite recipe links using FoodieView's free recipe box tool.

For those hungering for more, FoodieView also offers a comprehensive restaurant guide covering 9 major markets (Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle), cookbook reviews, "Recipe Roundup" newsletters and other food-related information resources.

With the glut of information available on the Internet today, finding quality food sites - and then accessing the information in those sites - has become more cumbersome and time consuming than ever before. FoodieView has changed all that by providing one-stop, single-search convenience to ensure people spend more time cooking, eating and socializing rather than searching for food-related information online.

Please let me or my colleague Merilee Kern know if you would like more information about FoodieView, related story artwork and/or an interview with a company executive, as we will be happy to coordinate.

Regards,
Stephanie Fisher
