Kurt Cobain's second cousin, who has written two books since the suicide of Nirvana's lead singer/guitarist in 1994, will be speaking to mental health advocates and others in the community on Dec. 12.
She'll also be talking about her books inspired by her cousin's death - "When Nothing Matters Anymore: A Survival Guide for Depressed Teens" and "Dying to be Free: A Healing Guide for Families After Suicide.
"Anybody can be depressed and anybody can have suicidal thoughts at some time in their life," Cobain told me in a recent phone interview. "Depression is a physical, medical illness. It's not something to be joked about or to put off having treatment."
Read more today in the Daytona Beach News-Journal about how she feared her cousin was in trouble and needed help. But it was too late.
