The Grammy Award winner and country music superstar seranaded us with two songs, including "Sweet Thing." He said it was his first time to Daytona Beach. He was here with his wife, Nicole Kidman, though she didn't come to the press conference.
Just a bit earlier, photographers were getting a glimpse of Tom Cruise practicing before he was to lead the race in the pace car.
While I didn't see Cruise, Urban passed right by me in the media room twice and on his way out he said to me and a few others leaning along the wall that he could have kept singing all night long.
He made the audience laugh right after his performance when asked what was his favorite race car movie. Kidman and her ex-husband, Cruise, both starred in "Days of Thunder" filmed in Daytona Beach.
He said there's so many to choose from and laughed when he said Disney Pixar's movie "Cars" was his favorite.
