Em flirts with Spock, Palin
Leave it to Eminem to discover what really lurks under Bret Michaels' head scarf and under the covers of Sarah Palin's bed. (Answers: a bald head, a polar bear and an Eskimo).
Those aren't the only celebs his Eminem-ness parodies in his new video for "We Made You." Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, an uber-butted Kim Kardashian and a very scary Amy Winehouse all make guest appearances (OK, it's their look-alikes).
Em himself spends a lot of time portraying Michaels (of "Rock of Love" fame), "Jailhouse Rock"-era Elvis and everyone's fav Vulcan, Mr. Spock.
Yeah, the bouncy song, replete with a female-sung chorus, is disposable. But the video is a howler. We found it at mtv.com.

Beats howl in comic history
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn, looking for a comic book treatment of themselves ...."
Fans of the Beats will recognize these words from "Howl," Allen Ginsberg's epic, mondo-hip 1956 poem ... except for that "looking for a comic book" part. That's where writer Harvey Pekar and artist Ed Piskor come in.
Their new book, "The Beats: A Graphic History," gives the comic book treatment to Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac (author of "On the Road"), William Burroughs (of "Naked Lunch" fame), poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti and other writers of the Beat Generation of the 1950s.
No doubt the Beats would approve of such an outsider treatment of their outsider ways.

Anvil bangs your head
A metal band whose lead singer is nicknamed "Lips" ... whose meat-and-potatoes riffs make Kiss and Judas Priest sound as sophisticated as Mozart .¤.¤. whose songs include such lyrics as "Metal on metal shakin' the place, blows back your hair, caves in your face! Keep on rockin'!"
No, it's not Spinal Tap. It's Anvil, the real-life, under-the-radar Canadian metal band who have been in the game since 1981.
The band is getting some buzz thanks to "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," a new documentary film by Sacha Gervasi. Until the doc makes it into the local art cinema or onto DVD, you fans will have to satisfy your Anvil jones by visiting myspace.com/anvilmetal.
