Flo Rida spins Dead or Alive

Florida hip-hop artist Flo Rida is perched on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Right Round," a propulsive but bubbly dance club ditty that seems more of a fit for the bastard love child of Britney Spears and some '80s synth-pop fop.

And with good reason, kids: Flo Rida's track is actually a remake of "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)," a 1985 hit by those Liverpool-spawned, big-haired synth-pop dudes known as Dead or Alive.

Who knew Rida was a fan of tarty '80s New Wave? See the original Dead or Alive video on YouTube.

Actress depicts bugs' sexy time

Respected international model and film star Isabella Rossellini, best known for her role in David Lynch's kinky, creepy "Blue Velvet," is now making porno? About insects and sea creatures' sex lives? And you can watch it on the Web?

There's a word for that: Sweeeeeet!

Actually, the hilarious and informative two-minute films, called "Green Porno" and conceived, written, directed and starring Rossellini, depict the mating rituals of insects including fireflies, spiders and bees.

The actress dons costume and makeup to resemble the designated creepy-crawly, and then, um, interacts with cardboard cutouts or puppets that represent the intended mate.

Season 2 began Wednesday, and Rossellini will portray various sea creatures such as barnacles, starfish and limpets. And no, Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On"' will not be playing in the background.

Album collars "Slumdog" composer's best

Composer AR Rahman won Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song at this year's Academy Awards for his "Slumdog Millionaire" work.

But long before he went slumming, Rahman was mashing up pop, electronica, urban beats, world beats and the music of Bollywood (films from Mumbai, India). That mix made Rahman a hit in his native India and beyond.

Now Americans can discover why Rahman has sold over 200 million albums worldwide. Check out "The Best of AR Rahman," available on Sony Music's Legacy label.
